Highway Hero Trust is a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to improving the lives of drivers and their families by providing safety training, healthcare access, education, and empowerment programs across India.
Highway Hero Trust was born out of a simple yet powerful realization: the very people who keep our highways moving, truck drivers, taxi drivers, and transport workers, often remain unseen, under-protected, and undervalued.
Founded by a group of committed individuals, HHT set out to address the pressing challenges faced by drivers and their families: lack of health facilities, unsafe working conditions, and limited recognition of their contribution to society.
From its humble beginnings, the Trust has grown into a community-driven platform, partnering with government bodies, NGOs, and corporate CSR initiatives to deliver impactful programs.
To create safer highways and stronger communities by ensuring drivers and their families have access to healthcare, training, education, and livelihood opportunities.

Founder & Chairman – Highway Hero Trust
In the year 2000, I arrived in Delhi with a dream and started to make a living as a tourist driver. The journey was challenging, and along the way, I witnessed the harsh realities faced by drivers — exploitation and unfair treatment were rampant in our industry. These experiences ignited a passion within me to bring about change and improve the lives of my fellow drivers.
By 2007, the need for collective action became clear. Rajdhani Tourist formed the Welfare Association, which laid the foundation for the Rajdhani Tourist Driver Union in 2010. Over the past nine years, I have had the honor of serving as the Union President, representing the interests and rights of our drivers.
As President, I have tirelessly brought drivers’ issues to the attention of both the Delhi government and the central government. Our efforts have focused on raising awareness about drivers’ rights, ensuring that they are respected and upheld.
We have also provided continuous support to drivers’ families, emphasizing the importance of education for their children and ensuring they have access to quality schooling.

Ms. Reema Virdee is a multifaceted leader known for her dynamic roles across various fields. As the President of Highway Hero Trust, Reema has been at the forefront of championing the rights and welfare of drivers for nearly a decade. Her leadership is marked by a deep commitment to improving the lives of drivers and their families through innovative programs and unwavering support.
Reema’s vision for the Highway Hero Trust revolves around key principles such as health and safety, driver empowerment, community building, family support, and women empowerment. Her initiatives have uplifted drivers and fostered a sense of community and solidarity among them. Under her guidance, the Trust has become a beacon of hope and support for drivers facing exploitation and challenging circumstances.
Beyond her work with the Highway Hero Trust, Reema is the Founder and Director of Rvedaa Limited UK, a pioneering organization in its field. She also graces the airwaves as a Radio Presenter on the UK’s biggest retro music station, bringing joy and nostalgia to countless listeners.
Her entrepreneurial spirit is further exemplified through Sangini, a program dedicated to nurturing and empowering women entrepreneurs.
